LNG has been safely transported to markets around the world in LNG carriers for more than 50 years. The vessels are specially designed and used only for LNG transport. The carriers are double-hulled and have sophisticated safety monitoring systems to ensure the LNG is safely handled. There have been more than 80,000 LNG voyages worldwide – totalling more than 128 million miles to date – without a major incident at sea.
