Project Timelines

PETRONAS announced in December 2014 that it has deferred making a final investment decision, allowing more time to collect information and evaluate project costs.
The project received an Environmental Certificate from the provincial government in November 2014. The certificate included eight conditions, which Pacific NorthWest LNG has committed to fulfilling.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) is currently reviewing the project’s environmental assessment application and is expected to make a decision in 2015.
Construction would not begin until the project has received an environmental certificate from both the provincial and federal governments, made a final investment decision, and obtained all necessary permits. Construction is estimated to take approximately four years, with commercial operations targeted to begin in 2019.
