The project is subject to a thorough regulatory review from both CEAA and the BC EAO. On February 28, 2014, Pacific NorthWest filed our environmental assessment application with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) and the BC Environmental Assessment Office (BC EAO).
The application includes extensive environmental studies that provide baseline information of the current environment and proposed mitigations to address potential environmental and social effects the project might have on the region.
The project is currently in the first public comment period, and included our open houses in Port Edward and Prince Rupert on April 7 and April 8. Click here to submit your feedback. A second comment period is expected to take place in Fall 2014. More information about the second comment period will be provided on our website when it is available.
There are many opportunities for the public to comment on the project during throughout the CEAA and BC EAO processes, including open houses and written submissions to the regulatory agencies.
