The project is subject to a thorough regulatory review from both CEAA and the BC EAO. On February 28, 2014, Pacific NorthWest filed our environmental assessment application with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) and the BC Environmental Assessment Office (BC EAO).
The application includes extensive environmental studies that provide baseline information of the current environment and proposed mitigations to address potential environmental and social effects the project might have on the region.
The first public comment period, which included open houses in Port Edward and Prince Rupert, concluded May 1, 2014. A second public comment period is expected to occur in the fall, which may include additional open houses, as determined by CEAA.

More information about the second comment period will be provided on our website when it is available. Click here to review the public comments received by the regulators. There are many opportunities for the public to comment on the project during throughout the CEAA and BC EAO processes, including open houses and written submissions to the regulatory agencies.
